Sorry if this has been asked before. I have set up the we connect on my car but to lock and unlock the car you have to go through an identification process were they photograph you then your passport or drivers licence.

I asked the operator was there a charge for this service but she couldn’t answer my question so I said I would get back to them.

Is there a charge for this service and is it safe to supply your ID to them. You are taken through to IDnow to authenticate your details.

No charge.
The operator who did mine a month ago was German (english speaking) so I assume was in Germany. I would expect VW to be GDPR compliant, but it’s your decision as to this issue.

The lady I spoke to was also german (English speaking) think thats were the misunderstanding came from.

Will give them another try after easter to sign up.
