It's normal, it means your battery capacity is probably too low.
Stop/start stays off to let the alternator recharge the battery.

If it keeps up it may mean your battery or alternator is faulty but probably battery 🤔🤷‍♂️

It is also common in warm weather if you have the Air Con on trying to cool the car. Even when Stop/Start stops the engine, eg while you are at traffic lights, the engine will sometimes restart by itself when the AC needs some extra power if the interior temp begins to rise.

If you have been doing mostly short, stop/start journeys, the battery charge will be below optimum and the Stop/Start system will seldom operate. If this is the case, then a longer journey on open roads will usually restore the operation, but it may need 20-30 miles, so 45 minutes to an hour, and even then Stop/Start may work a few times and then revert to not being available.

It will take at least 20-30 minutes ride to restore start/stop when it says "Consumption too high "

Has anyone found a way of switching off permanently stop start for MY21 models.
Obdeleven can’t do it at the moment and I don’t want to pull out the battery monitoring plug.

Switch the A/C to Lo with the fan at max and keep the windows open to prevent the car interior cooling down, keep your headlights, heated seats, heated rear screen and heated door mirrors on all the time and use your wipers and washers as much as possible - rain or washer bottle permitting.

In other words flatten your battery to the point where Stop/Start will disable itself.

I assume that neither the voltage or a/c temperature method work 🤷‍♂️

You can buy a device that plugs in at the back of the stop/start button but it needs a power supply wired in.
