Space saver spare / mobility kit

Post by Ste007 » Wed Jul 14, 2021 8:13 am

Hi all

I have a T-roc SEL 1.0 that I will shortly be trading in for a new SEL 1.5

Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to specify that the new car be factory fitted with the space saver spare wheel rather than the standard mobility kit. My current T-roc has the spare wheel and it occurred to me that I could simply swap the 2 over when I collect the new car. I wasn't sure if the dealer would be ok with that so I was wondering whether I could source a mobility kit prior to collection so the dealer would be none the wiser.

Presumably though the mobility kit doesn't just consist of the compressor and fluid. Can anyone tell me what else there is? I assume there will also be. at least, a jack, towing eye and storage tray. can these be sourced separately and is it worth the effort? Thanks

however there are others than the ones I present that have a jack and no tire

Just take the space saver out and don’t mention it to the dealer as they will probably swap it for a tyre repair kit.

Thanks for the advice everyone

Just curious though. What is the curved black device in the middle of the top picture (has Hungary written on it)?

I agree, Don't think the dealer actually knows what should or shouldn't be in the car .. Bought a pre-registered Renault Scenic years ago that had a full size spare not listed on the normal spec (could be added for £100). When I changed to a Renault Megane, that I checked was not going to have a spare, I just said nothing and the dealer didn't query it. ;) ;)

I decided in the end to take the spare from my current car before trading it in and put it in the new one. My conscience wouldn’t allow me to just take it though so I bought this off ebay…
