T Roc R- swap out runflats?

Post by DominicJ » Tue Jul 20, 2021 3:55 pm

Hi! I am a new T ROC R owner. I need to soften the ride a bit. Can swapping out the runflats make a big difference?

I have no experience of this.
But run flats do make the ride a lot harder because of the stiff side walls.

Are you sure you have run flats. My R has standard Continental tyres. Never heard of run flats on the R before.

I don't have runflats! Just checked. They looked like them due to the pronounced sidewall and what with the ride, I just assumed they were! Sorry.

What tyre pressures does everyone run?

I think 35 was the recommended pressure for “comfort” on 19” (they don’t show that one on the door sticker anymore I don’t think). Not sure how different R tyres are from R-line but I find it reasonably comfortable with that. I’ll double check it’s 35 when I’m in the car later unless someone else confirms first.

My bad, 35 normal and 30 comfort for R-line but since @Linford’s numbers are different I guess you guys get better tyres!

Do you not have a sticker inside the door like this?

I'm 99.9999999% sure it was on a previous topic over a year ago that volkswagen had dropped the comfort tyre pressure settings off the stickers 🤷‍♂️👌

When I had the alloys replaced VW set mine at 35psi and I've never touched them at since.
They don't feel too bad until I hit a rough section of the road.

You’re correct but I wondered if he didn’t have a sticker at all.

When I had my service a couple months ago they did the same thing to mine and I shouted at them for it 😡 I feel that difference of 5psi makes a huge difference and immediately deflated them to just above 30.

I totally agree 👌
I'm wondering did the lower pressures have an influence over my tyres perishing 🤔🤷‍♂️

Funnily enough my mother's 2 year old micra Bridgestone tyres are perishing as well, I think I have hers at comfort as well 😂

My father's 2 year old sportage has continentals and they are as good as new 🤷‍♂️
